When selecting meats or beef for your healthy heart recipe, try to select the piece of meat with low fat. Prepackaged beef should be sealed entirely and purchased as far as possible before the expire date. To reduce saturated fat and cholesterol intake, trim away all excess fat before cooking. Lean cuts of beef for chili or steak recipes include 90 percent or more lean ground beef, tenderloin, and sirloin.
